Salvia spathacea

Hummingbird Sage, Pitcher Sage

A majestic ornamental sage with beautiful magenta flowers and nicely fragrant (if somewhat sticky) arrow-shaped leaves. This California native grows to 2 feet tall and attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. It blooms in late spring or early summer in the Pacific Northwest (earlier in milder climates). Frost- and drought-tolerant. Zone 7.
